Good Magazine

Good Magazine is a great magazine that focuses on individuals, businesses, and non-profits who are making the world a better place to live.

  1. I've visited this site just a few times before when it was an option to use in our Art 328 - New Media class. It's cool to see a portland non-profit taking the top spot today. But I also found their article on Generification interesting describing how words like googling and photoshopping are slipping into our language.

  2. Y'know, I keep going through these articles and keep finding very little to say other than "huh," and "that's cool." It might be because I feel most of these subjects aren't very applicable considering my chosen take on graphic art, which seems like an awful thing to say because these people put in a lot of effort into what they do and deserve more than just "looks nice"! I DO appreciate their efforts to make the world a better place to live, THAT much I can identify with. =)

  3. Mike--I am curious as to what you mean by "it might be because I feel most of these subjects aren't very applicable considering my chosen take on graphic art...? Can you clarify? Thanks.

  4. What I meant was that since my take is graphic noveling, it's difficult to find the connection between that and, say for example: abstract art turned handbag, redesigning chairs or who-knows-what-else-goes-on-in-industrial-design. The only thing I can say is that if I want to be designing worlds and tell stories about them, I'll have to consider how and why people make things the way they are. Sometimes I don't see a lot of the WHY in these articles. When I do, I love it!
